FAQs

How long will it take to groom my pet?

We try to allow ourselves 2½ -3 hours per pet depending on the size and condition of your pet. We do occasionally have interruptions and may need extra time. We also ask you to potty your pet prior to the grooming process.

How much do you charge?

The cost to groom your pet depends on the size of your pet, the condition of the coat, temperament and the difficulty of the haircut. If it has been a long time since the last grooming, the price can be drastically higher than a pet that is periodically groomed.

Do I need an Appointment?
Yes, you need an appointment to get your pet groomed. We are an upscale, quality groom shop that pre-books most of our clients’ appointments. As a matter of fact, it isn’t unusual for our groomer to be booked out for 2-3 weeks because our quality is in demand. We do offer walk-in service for nail trimming. We do ask that you come before 4:00PM and give us a courtesy call to let us know you are on your way.

How often should I have my pet groomed?
Most pets should be groomed at least every 6-8 weeks. The amount of time really depends on how fast your pet’s hair grows and your desired length of your pet’s coat will factor in how often you should have your pet groomed. It is a good rule of thumb to have your pet brushed once a week to allow you to notice changes in skin conditions or other health concerns that your pet may have.

When should I start having my puppy groomed?
Puppies should be started with grooming as soon as possible. The earlier you start bringing them in the better it is for both the groomer and puppy. We generally don’t drastically change the appearance of a puppy on the first few grooms. The important part of grooming puppies at an early age is getting them acquainted with the whole grooming process. Generally puppies do a lot of wiggling and squirming before they get comfortable with the process. Expect your puppy to be tired when they get back home.

My dog is matted, what does that mean?
A “Mat” on a dog means a comb cannot separate the hair on the dog and cannot be easily ran through the coat. Not all matting can be removed be simple brushing or other tools. When this occurs, the staff will inform you of the options you have to fix the mats. If the mats can be separated with our fingers and you can still see a separation between the mat and skin, it is a good chance that we may be able to comb it out. However, there will be an additional fee added to the price of the groom. As for the owners who do not brush their pets out regularly, once matting gets beyond a certain point, the only fix to this problem is to clip out the mats with a short blade …forcing you to start new with your pet’s coat.
Do you groom cats?
No, due to the high risk of grooming cats, we no longer will be offering cat grooming..

Do you groom big dogs?
Yes. Safety is our main goal. If we feel for some reason we cannot complete the entire grooming process, we will call the pet’s owner and do what we can in a safe and effective manner.  With older dogs or difficult/special needs dogs, our process of grooming maybe expedited. However, we always try to calmly and quickly finish without stressing out the pet.

Do you groom aggressive or special needs dogs?
Yes. We will always try before turning down any dog. However, we will charge more for aggressive or special needs dogs. If we feel in any way that the safety of your pet and/or the groomer are threatened, it may be necessary that we turn away your pet.
Do you use sedatives or tranquilizers on dogs when you groom them?
Absolutely not. Never should any groomer administer any kind of medication to your pet. Only licensed veterinarians should prescribe any drugs to your pet.
